   Mark Jonathan Schiffert is an accomplished pianist and an award winning and published composer. He received his musical training at the Manhattan School of Music in NYC where he was a scholarship student. He is the the owner of Cloudmountain Music, a small independent record company based in Montclair, NJ. His two most recent solo piano CD’s of original compositions on Cloudmountain Music are “When the 4 Winds Blow” (2009) and “Kindred Spirits” (2017). They can be previewed and purchased on iTunes or at cloudmountainmusic.com. In addition to works for solo piano, Mark is also the composer of music for handbells, concert band and chamber music. 

    Mark studied handbells at the Westminster Choir College in Princeton, NJ with Donald Allured and Robert Ivey. He is the winner of the  AGEHR 2009 composition contest award for his handbell composition entitled “On the Winds of the Morning” which was premiered at The University of Scranton under the direction of David Harris, the director of the internationally known Raleigh Ringers. He has been a handbell choir director  for many years.

    His 2015 composition for concert band, “Returning Full Circle”, was dedicated to John J. Maiello and the Nutley High School wind ensemble and was premiered by them at their spring concert in 2016.

    Mark is an experienced instructor in piano, music theory and composition, and music and computer technology (Finale and Digital Performer). He studied music technology and audio engineering at The New School in NYC, and has also been a guest lecturer in music at Rutgers University.
